Honda HDS HIM IMMO Ask for Password Solution
Problem:
I am trying to program an immobilizer key for Honda Accord 2003 (North America) using my “HDS HIM Diagnostic Tool for Honda V3.103.066 with Double Board“. I am getting a screen telling me to enter a password and say function is locked. See attached photo. Before I purchased this item I asked if I could program immobilizer keys without passwords and I was told passwords were not required. What is the passwords to this program for immobilizer keys?
Solution:
Honda HDS clone does do immobilizer key programming without a password.
Don’t choose the area as ‘North America’. Select ‘Other’ region instead. It will not ask for a password.

How to Install Honda HDS Cable on Windows 10 64bit?
Many people asking how to set up Honda HDS software for Xhorse HDS cable on Windows 10. Here’s the instruction shared by one of our customers.
To connect and work, you need to install the Honda HDS program.
It’s simple, if you have an earlier version of Windows, you will have to tinker a little for Win10.
The procedure here is for version 3.101.019. Didn’t test other versions. You are at your risk.
3.101.019 can be downloaded here for free.
1. Extract the archive.
2. Go to the extracted folder “Honda HDS 3.101.019 \ HDS PC”, run “Setup.exe”
Important! Disable Anti-Virus before installation or add it to the exclusions.
Select the Europe region. The dealer code is 208342, in my opinion you can do anything.
3. Select software language
4. We are waiting for the end of the installation. Do not start HDS afterwards.
5. Next, look in the extracted folder “Honda HDS 3.101.019 “, run the patch “HIMGNA.exe”
6. In the folder “Honda HDS 3.101.019 “, extract the contents of XHorse.zip Extract to the root of the C drive! Add Anti-virus
7. Next, connect the HDS cable. Do not update in any case.
A new device “M-VCI” appears.
Install the drivers manually from the XHorse folder. Important! Disconnect the Internet because Win10 will automatically find and install the drivers. They won’t work! If Win10 automatically installed drivers from the network, then remove the installed devices (USB Serial converter and USB Serial Port) and remove their drivers. Then connect the cable, it will appear in M-VCI with a yellow question mark, on which we manually install the driver from the C: / XHorse location. Do the same with USB Serial converter and USB Serial Port.
8.Next, go back to “Honda HDS 3.101.019 ” and run the registry file “Xhorse64.reg”.
9. Through the Add-Remove Programs we demolish the drivers of dealer scanners SPX MVCI 3.01.37. (Optional)
10. Launch HDS and select XHorse – MVCI in the communication interface
11. We are happy )
The program pleased me with its capabilities, it works slowly, of course, but this is not a big problem, it works.
Hope it helps.

Honda HDS and SAS Reset
Both HDS original and HDS HIM clone double-board can do this job.
When removing and installing a cable reel, you need to keep both the cable reel and the steering angle sensor in
position. If you don’t , the VSA indicator may come on along with one or more VSA DTCs. And when you run the
Neutral Memorization Procedure in the i-HDS, it won’t complete.
By the way, this procedure is covered as VSA Sensor Neutral Position Memorization in the service information.
To keep those parts properly positioned, here’s a tip: First, make sure the front wheels are pointed straight ahead with
the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position. Then, before removing the cable reel, tape both the cable reel and
steering angle sensor together. This not only keeps the parts properly positioned, but keeps the sensor from accidently
moving.
When you turn the steering wheel to
the right (or the sensor clockwise), the reading increases or moves in a positive direction. When you turn it to the left
(or the sensor counterclockwise), the reading decreases or moves in a negative direction
To manually position the steering angle sensor, you first need to determine its current position with the i-HDS. How you
do that depends on how far along you are with your repair.
For instance, if you’ve completely assembled the steering column, you’ll need to go to the ABS/TCS/VSA Data List and
check the STEERING ANGLE (CAN) value. If you haven’t yet installed the steering angle sensor, you’ll need to at least
hook up the sensor, the cable reel, and either the airbag assembly or the applicable simulator tool, then read the sensor
value in the data list.
In this example, the STEERING ANGLE (CAN) value is reading a positive 180°, which tells you the steering angle
sensor is 180° out of position clockwise. To fix this, you’ll need to remove the sensor from the cable reel and turn the
two tabs 180° counterclockwise to bring the sensor back to center or 0°.
When you’re done, you’ll then need to install all of the removed components and repeat the Neutral Memorization
Procedure. If you’ve done the sensor adjustment right , the procedure should complete and you can then move on with
your repair.

THINKCAR Thinkdiag for Honda review:
I think THINKCAR Thinkdiag is a great idea to be able to buy s/w for your car and pay a lot less than where you are forced to buy s/w for 100 cars/makes in one product at a very high price. It is a novel idea in favor of DIY. I needed a tool to de-activate the immobilizer after changing our a controller on my car. It involved re-programming an eeprom on the controller. The ThinkCar/ThinkDiag did just that. What I paid for the dongle plus the s/w for Honda/Acura only would have been more or less the same as what I had to paid a mechanic to do the re-programming. I am very happy with the product.

Honda HDS vs. i-HDS Diagnostic Software
Questions:
- What is the main difference between the HDS and I-HDS Honda diagnostic software?
- Should be both installed?
- Is the i-HDS require license from Honda dealer?
Simple answer:
Honda HDS vs. I-HDS: HDS use for old car, older 2017. Use with hardware is HIM (original or clone). And I-HDS use for new car, >2017 and more, use with hardware original is DST-i of Bosch.
Honda I-HDS replaces HDS. To diagnose newer cars, I-HDS is required. The interface is easier to use. So you need to install HDS first and I-HDS afterwards. HDS will NOT run by itself.
HDS cannot access IMMO anymore. You would need i-HDS installed. However, you will need to be a registered locksmith and have credentials for Honda. None of this is provided, therefor will not work. You can purchase key programming device if you want to do IMMO.
The J2534 Rewrite software is meant for the North American market. The Rewrite software allows you to update powertrain modules such as PCM and TCM.
A subscription to the i-HDS suite and an appropriate J2534 Pass-through device is needed. If your have a DST-i, the PCM Initialization software is included in the subscription.
NOTE: If you are trying to reprogram ECM/PCM/ECU’s or replace lost keys, the appropriate credentials and type of subscription is required.
How do I subscribe to the Honda Diagnostic System software?
Subscribe i-HDS online license from HDS official: https://techinfo.honda.com/
Enable i-HDS license enables following functions:
- i-Troubleshoot (Guided Diagnostics)
- All Systems DTC Scan and Clear
- J2534 ECU Reprogramming (Guided Diagnostics) . Reprogramming software for use with J2534 compliant interface devices is available with an i-HDS subscription.
- SRS Deployment Status
- ADAS Calibration*
- TPMS Calibration*
- Function Tests
- Immobilizer**
- PCM Code**
- *If vehicle is equipped
**Requires valid VSC (formerly known as LSID) to transact data via SDRM.
1 Day Subscription: $30
30 Day Subscriptions: $200
365 Day Subscriptions: $1800
Here we go for details.

Vehicle Communication Interfaces (VCI)
The I-HDS software supports the use of a generic pass-thru VCI that is compliant with SAE J2534-1 and J2534-2. However, American Honda Motor Co. recommends the Denso DST-I for use on Honda and Acura vehicles, Honda Canada Inc. recommends the Denso DST-nano for use on Honda and Acura vehicles, as Honda has worked closely with this manufacturers to ensure their hardware and our software interact safely and within the J2534-1 and J2534-2 specifications, for both diagnostics and reprogramming. If you choose to use a generic VCI, please carefully consider the customer and technical support options you will receive from your chosen device supplier.
The VCI Application Table below lists devices that either are approved and supported by Honda or are known to have completed and passed an independent, exhaustive validation program with our I-HDS software suite.

Reprogramming with the J2534 Rewrite Application in i-HDS
Included in the i-HDS software suite is a new reprogramming application called J2534 Rewrite. This application is made available to all subscribers of the i-HDS software suite and replaces the previous generation software, J2534 Honda Pass-thru Reprogramming Software.
You can use other J2534 devices. Some examples of tools that you can use are Snap On, CarDaq-Plus, CarDaq-M, GM MDI and much more!
This new application is compatible with generic VCIs that comply with SAE J2534. It must be used to reprogram any Honda/Acura vehicle equipped with ECUs that support reprogramming. Refer to the table below for legacy applicability for the programming of ECMs and PCMs. Though system dependent, late-model vehicles may be equipped with other ECUs that support reprogramming as well, e.g. ABS or VSA. J2534 Rewrite must be used to reprogram these control modules, as instructed in an applicable service bulletin.
As shown in this table, not all legacy Honda/Acura models are equipped with a reprogrammable ECM/PCM. Furthermore, all 2007 and later models not listed in the table are fully supported with this application.
